P256Q "Kids First, High Expectations, No Excuses"

From the Parent Coordinator

PCDear 256 Families,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year. I would like to introduce myself to you. I am Danielle Barker, Parent Coordinator for P256Q. I thought I would share a little information about myself. This is my second year as Parent coordinator, but I have been a part of the P256Q family for 4 years. I am formerly the PA (Parent Association) secretary and a member of the SLT (School Leadership Teams) board. Prior to becoming the parent coordinator, I worked in the NYC shelter system. I also served 4 years in the US NAVY. I am currently a 2024 Queens General Assembly delegate and an advocate of the rights for people with disabilities.

I am a proud parent of a P256 student. My son is currently in the 4th grade at our 333 site and is 9 years old. Like you, I deal with the challenges that come along with having a child with special needs. I want to assure you that as Parent coordinator, we can face these challenges together. My top priority are the children of P256 and making sure that they have a successful school year and beyond. But I know that our children cannot succeed without us in their corner. We are their biggest cheerleaders and I want to be the cheerleader for you, the parents. So, do not be afraid to contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or help with anything that may benefit you and your child. I can be reached at (718)734-3240 ext. 1975, (929)614-0465 and dbarker5@schools.nyc.gov. please, also sign up for remind to receive information and resources.

Again, I welcome you to the school year and I look forward to meeting and working with every one of you.

With Sincerity,

Danielle Barker
